The new art collection by popular Sheffield artist Matt Cockayne due to launch Sunday 6th May at Heist Craft in Clowne and also on his website www.goo-design.co.uk Electric Avenue is a electrifying art show which will involve a number of handmade glass “Neon” artworks which will be switched on at 7pm at the event at Heist where Matt is the resident artist and has drawn a number of wall murals in the bar and brewery since it’s opening just over 12 months ago. Matt said he chose Heist for his show as not only is it a great bar but it also has a great atmosphere and the exposed brick walls are the ideal backdrop for his new work. Heist has been a big supporter of Goo Design and we have worked on a number of projects together and grown and firm working relationship and friendship with the owners Adam France and Dan Hunt who plan to open their very own in-house brewery very soon. As well as art there will be a Goo Pop up shop for the day, live music and food vendors outside in the beer garden as well as a limited edition brewed Raspberry Berliner Weiss which is a pink beer.
This collection of art has been set in and around the areas where Matt was brought up and there is also the odd local landmark thrown into the mix as well as a bit of mischief and estate life “my wife Lynsey recently talked me into getting a cat which I have grown to like and is now a big part of our family so I wanted to also include peoples pets into my new art and there are a number of them hidden away on the buildings, if your not a cat person then your usually a dog person and every estate has cats and dogs. Growing up in Halfway the 
estate is split by a football pitch one side being a private 1960’s built estate where my parents still live and on the other side a council estate boasting a fine example of Brutalism architecture where my grandparent’s lived. Growing up in the 90’s I was always whizzing around the estate with my mates on my BMX and have fond memories of playing football in areas your not allowed to defy the no ball games signs”. I love the sharp angles of the buildings and the concrete which are dotted up and down the UK, not everyone’s cup of tea but I wanted to bring these streets to life with colour and show their inner beauty.
At the show on the 6th, there will be a “FREE” mini artwork with a pint of our beer which we are collaborating with Sheffield’s Lost Industry Brewery.
